Watermelon Brain
Brains anyone? This recipe is clever, easy to prepare and will have everyone doing a double take. This is a quick
and easy recipe. First use clean and peel the watermelon. Determine which side of the melon is best to use as the brain. To stabilize it, slice a small piece from the melon’s bottom. Use a thin knife to cut down the middle. Make another cut ,at an angle, around an 1/8 inch from the first. Take out a v-shaped piece of the melon to reveal the inside. Find a picture of a brain to act as a guide and carve pieces out of the watermelon to make it look like a brain.
Smokey Bones
Peel and slice a large jicama into 1/4 inch thick strips. Using a bone-shaped cookie cutter cut the strips. Toss with a blend of 1/4 teaspoon of olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 tablespoon of lime juice. Serve with ketchup or guacamole.
