Planning Menus For Meals In 30 Minutes Or Less
Healthy meals don’t have to take more than 30 minutes. The secret to a tasty meal in less than 30 minutes begins with ingredients that require less time to cook, bake, broil or saut. Busy cooks can plan an entire week’s worth of home cooked meals that are nutritious and delicious.

Know Your Ingredients
Choose meats, poultry and vegetables that can will cook in 30 minutes or less. For example, prepare a surf and turf in 30 minutes or less depending on the size of the steaks and efficiency of the broiling unit. Sprinkle steaks with a dash of lemon pepper or brush with barbecue sauce and broil. Skewer sea scallops or shrimp sprinkled with lime juice and garlic powder. Add this to the broiler the last 5 minutes before steaks are done. Serve with fresh salad. For another example, pound chicken cutlets to 1/4 inch thickness and dredge in flour. Melt butter and crushed garlic in a saut pan and add chicken and white wine. Serve over quick rice. Ground beef, pork and lamb are great casserole ingredients with potatoes, noodles or rice for meals in 30 minutes or less.

If you have opened up a magazine or turned on the television recently, then you probably have heard about the growing obesity epidemic. The convenience of fast food and the easy accessibility of video games have caused children to grow up in an unhealthy way. Many people never learn how to make a nutritious and healthy meal. Instead, they learn habits that are anything but good for their bodies.

In order to ensure that your children grow up to be robust, able-bodied, and well-conditioned, you must teach them good habits from an early age.The whole story can be found at http://skydancingblog.com/2011/10/24/the-obesity-epidemic/ Allow them to help you in the kitchen. Teach them what types of food are good for their health, and show them how easy it is to prepare wholesome food to eat.

The age and maturity level of your child will determine how much he or she can help around the kitchen. Younger children should stick to simpler tasks that do not contain much of a risk. For instance, they can help wash the fruits and vegetables. Also, they can measure and mix ingredients. Meanwhile, older children can be given more responsibility. They can help chop the vegetables, or help to operate the different kitchen appliances.

Halloween is an exciting holiday. There’s a sense of eeriness, costumes and parties. People spend lot of time making their home look spooky, there are many recipes that transform food from the ordinary to the frightful. This Halloween, try adding a decorative twist with these easy to make Halloween-themed recipes.

Watermelon Brain

Brains anyone? This recipe is clever, easy to prepare and will have everyone doing a double take. This is a quick
and easy recipe. First use clean and peel the watermelon. Determine which side of the melon is best to use as the brain. To stabilize it, slice a small piece from the melon’s bottom. Use a thin knife to cut down the middle. Make another cut ,at an angle, around an 1/8 inch from the first. Take out a v-shaped piece of the melon to reveal the inside. Find a picture of a brain to act as a guide and carve pieces out of the watermelon to make it look like a brain.

Smokey Bones

Peel and slice a large jicama into 1/4 inch thick strips. Using a bone-shaped cookie cutter cut the strips. Toss with a blend of 1/4 teaspoon of olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 tablespoon of lime juice. Serve with ketchup or guacamole.

Halloween is a great holiday for kitchen creativity. The right recipe can bring a healthy and ghoulish look to any meal or snack.
